Barbados Today is seeking a fast, reliable and meticulous Sub Editor to join the team. As Sub Editor you will copy-edit articles for style, grammar, tone, structure, and adherence to Barbados Today guidelines. Your meticulous
eye for detail and dedication to quality control will ensure that all content
is published to the highest standards.

THE ROLE

◊ Copy, edit and plan pages of Barbados Today publications as assigned.
◊ Ensure copy is accurate and well presented, writing sharp, digital-friendly headlines, subtitles and picture captions.
Utilise the best pictures, video and other multimedia assets.
◊ Fact-check all content to ensure correctness and accuracy.
◊ Provide feedback and guidance for reporters and other writers where appropriate in line with the Barbados Today house style.
◊ Load articles into the content management system for publication, ensuring that they are free of formatting errors and typos.
◊ Liaise with the relevant personnel to ensure content is optimised for SEO.
◊ Produce templates for features and supplements as required by the company.
◊ Generate creative solutions to presenting content online.

Qualifications and experience:
◊ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
◊ Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of written English
◊ Knowledge of Adobe InDesign
◊ Quick, accurate subbing and writing of headlines
